Coming of age film set in 1990s or early 2000s.

Mom and dark haired daughter return back to mom’s hometown for a funeral or a wedding maybe. They stay at grandma or aunts house. Teenage girl wanders off to explore neighborhood and meets boy - I think he’s reading in a tree or a treehouse. Sorta remember her crashing into tree with car?!
