$10 Bounty: Movie from early 90’s

This movie is from my childhood. Remember watching it with my parents from a VHS casette. Unfortunately I can’t describe a whole plot. I’ll try to describe what I remember best. So the story goes like this - the guy was collecting or saving a money for his deam car in his desk drawer which was in his office. He also had a poster of the car - I think it was a Porsche (convertible). The next thing that I remember was the ending scene - the guy checks his drawer and the money is gone. Then he calls his friend who answers a phone in the car which he was saving money for, he drives it in the desert heading to Mexico. It is sunset. They speak for a while, can’t recall what exactly. It turns out that the dude stole the money and bought his friends dream car. I guess it was the ending scene.

Please help me finding a title of this movie. It will take me back to my childhood and help me see my dream car

are we sure it was not a fairly recent film? the guys friend pretends to be him to buy the car that was on hold for him? he was in the military or something....

Yes, we are talking about the same movie

the name isn't coming to me right now, but they were both in the military, i think the main "good" guy was signing off on inventory or something when his buddy was skimming guns or bringing in drugs. it was about to come down around them, and buddy had done much more than the couple the good guy was paid for. I recall the car was red or black, and he answers the car phone when the guy calls him.

I'd love to watch that movie again. If you remember the name, I'd really appreciate it if you could let me know.

Tried to search with AI, unfortunately none of the results were correct

This is really just a very wild guess, most probably not the right movie:

comment limit reached above: Unfortunately, nothing jumps out of my memory. I cannot even recall the exact channel I saw my family saw it on. He did call the car dealer, when he found out someone picked it up in his name. He did ask the guy for the phone number of the car, if I remember right. I am 90% positive both guys were in some branch of the military, and the good guy signed off manifests making the "extra" stuff come in without a problem. The good guy may have been someone famous, but their early works. The car dealer sat behind a desk and was slimyish

Chasers (1994).

Wow, this is a relatively well-known movie, and still nobody recognized it from the question. As it turns out, I also have seen this movie, but I did not remember the parts. Well done!

Just brilliant. Amazing find celebes.warty.pig . My mind can rest now too.

Thank you Internet, thank you filmfind.me and thank you all for helping. Special thanks to VHS_Lives and celebes.warty.pig

I saw that one in a list under "car phone", but it didn't ring a bell to me.
