A film quote about a boy's attitude to his father at different ages

I could be wrong, but I think of Armin Mueller-Stahl when I remember this quote. The gist is “When a boy is 10, his father means the world to him. When he’s 16, his father is an embarrassment. When he’s 40 he wishes his father was alive so he could ask his advice.” Anyone know the movie?

“Little Odessa” (1994)

“When a child is 6 years old, he says the father can do everything. When he is 12, he says the father can almost do everything. When he’s 16, he says the father’s an idiot. And then when he’s 40, he says, ‘if I only could ask my father’”.
