Release date: 1990-2010.
Country of origin: I guess, the US.
It’s not:
A Lover’s Revenge (2005).
Nightmare at the End of the Hall (2008).
I’m going to refer to the protagonist as Zoe, to hopefully make the story less confusing.
Near the beginning of the movie, we see Zoe - as a young girl - climbing out from the trunk of
a car.
As an adult, maybe she’s teaching in a university and her subject might be psychology.
She writes a novel about her kidnapping ordeal.
A male student befriends her (let’s call him Joe) claiming that he’s a fan of Zoe’s book and he would like to know everything that she might have left out from it. They start having an affair.
Zoe doesn’t know but Joe is also wooing her daughter. They’re roughly the same age.
Zoe’s husband cheats too, with a female student from the uni. This girl is later found murdered.
A knife and a rope (both used in the murder) are found in the trunk of Zoe’s husband’s car. He gets arrested in front of the university, while Joe watches from a distance.
Zoe approaches a female detective and tells her that she thinks it’s Joe who committed the murder.
This detective later searches Joe’s residence and in his bedroom, she finds a box full of cellphones.
The killer was Joe and he turns out to be the son of the original kidnapper of Zoe, from the beginning of the movie.
Near the end, Zoe visits her kidnapper in prison.
The kidnapper might have been played by a semi-famous or famous actor.
The title might include words about obsession, attraction or lethal.
