So, I watched a bit of this movie like 15 years ago when I was a kid, and I remember it because it was my first exposure to blood and extreme violence in movies and it kinda disturbed me at that age. I dont’t remember much since I was like 8 then, around 2008, but here goes:
These colonial guys with firearms (I don’t remember which kind. They could have been muskets or repeaters or bolt action rifles) attack this old (mossy?) stone temple. It had a ton of stairs leading to the top. The inhabitants, equipped with basic melee weapons and bows get annihilated. There is this one guy defending the folks from the temple who I remember quite a bit about. He was wearing one of those judge wigs and fighting with a sword (and maybe a gun too?) and killing some colonials. He was dressed in fancy robes (think they were blue or had some blue on them?) but got very beat down and wounded. There were black marks all over his clothes at this point. I don’t remember if they killed him or not but I think they did. Next details I remember were the colonials murdering survivors. One of the most vivid mental images I have from the movie was a guy they slaughtered’s decapitated head rolling down the stairs of the temple, if I remember correctly he was either bald, or they scalped him/skinned his head. They proceeded to set the place on fire I believe, since I recall seeing smoke. The rest of the details might be from another movie, since my friend had been flipping through channels, but I think it was the same movie. There was another guy defending I think, who they strung up/hanged dressed in black, and the most vivid mental image I have of this movie is seeing a closeup shot of his blood dripping onto the ground, drop by drop. The last part I remember was (again this could be a different movie idk) a bunch of people in a medium sized circus bigtop. I think it was a magic show or something, but then a fight broke out, and the main guy was fighting guys on tables and was wearing a white dress shirt I believe. I think a revolver was involved, but I don’t remember exactly how.
Aside from this, all I can tell you is that it was in colour, on at like 2am in Canada in ~2008, and that it disturbed me as a kid on account of it being by first exposure to extreme violence.
I want to watch it again to see if it’s actually just comically violent, or actually a bit disturbing. Thanks for hearing me out!
