The humans use a motion tracker to know where the creature is.
Near the end, the remaining crew was fleeing through labyrithine, crimson-lit corridors, which might have been ventillation tunnels.
Maybe only one person is left alive.
For a reason I have no information about, the creature turns friendly at that point and starts helping the survivor fixing some mechanical problem the ship or the station was having.
Maybe it took on the shape of a dog at this stage.
It levitates a wrench within arms reach of the survivor, while they are working on the problem.
