I’m trying to remember the name of this film that aired on HBO back in the early to mid 80s. It was about a guy who was on the streets, he met up with two guys who might have been down and out and asked him for his jacket, but he refused. From what I recall, the main character who was I believe Spanish, either lost his wallet or missed the bus which led him to spend the night in the streets of New York. He meets a strange annoying chubby homeless man who walks with a limp, and they slowly become friends. Toward the end of the short film the main character takes the homeless man to the clinic where after a long stay finds out the homeless man dies of an infection in his leg. Humbled, the main character makes his way home meets up with one of the dudes from the start of the movie and ends up giving him his jacket. I have no idea what the name of the movie is and it’s been driving me crazy

i have researched hard and found nothing so far that perfectly fits, but some close-ish. any chance it was newer than 80s? it was a short film?
