Looking for an animated movie where 2 main characters embark on a quest for some reason (I’ve forgotten what they are doing). The world is made up of broken pieces of land suspended in space. I don’t remember it being difficult for them to travel from one piece of land to another. There was a monster that chases them occasionally that is made up of hundreds of red flying bat-like creatures (maybe called the Red Devil or something similar). The one character just wants to live peacefully on a sheep farm, the other one (shorter, more intense) wants to complete the quest. I can’t remember if they are rescuing someone or traveling with someone else but I kind of think that there is a much younger spirited female character for part of the movie. Watched around 2010, maybe earlier.

No, but we watched Castle in the Sky during the same time period, and loved both movies. The animation in the movie I’m looking for was almost certainly cgi, maybe some handrawn scenes at the end. I think this was some sort of indie film.
