Film where altar lamp goes out

I can’t remember much, sorry. But the film was maybe set in a school with church. Kids or adults went bad - evil. There’s a scene where the altar / tabanacle light goes out, indicating that God is no longer there. Maybe from 70’s or 80’s. Please help, thanks
