Guy and his family (politician i think) stay at a hotel which is immediately over run with gangs who begin killing everyone

I cannot for the life of me remember the name of the movie, or main actor, but he and his family stay at a hotel and within 10 minutes of the movie starting a gang invade the hotel and begin killing everyone.

There’s a picture of him up on a billboard next to the hotel as i believe he’s some kind of politician.

After that its an edge of your seat ride as they try to avoid the gangs and eventually get on a boat to safety as i remember.

Any ideas?
