It is not the same premise, but it is a very good movie with a twist.

“Traders” (2015) a dark UK crime film.
Two unemployed/depressed people meet up and each brings a bag of money.
Fight to the death.
The winner buries the loser and takes the money.
It becomes a social phenomenon.
