I think it is a movie. Some young guy is on an island in SE Asia, just looking for fun. He picks up a local girl who is beautiful and falls in love. He gets a tattoo which has some local meaning and insults the local culture. He is then beat up by the girls brother and his friends on a beach.
Really that is all I remember.
I don’t remember anything that happened before or after that. My guess is 2010’s.
