Help me identify this movie — teenage girl, ghost of her mother, rural winter setting

I hope someone here recognizes it! It was it on Canadian Netflix sometime between 2017 and 2022 but the movie itself seemed older — probably from the 2010s

  • The main character is a teenage girl who lives with her father in a rural area in winter, near a lake and forest. Their house was kind of cabin- or lodge-like.

  • The father is a trucker who has to leave for a few days. Before he leaves, the daughter keeps asking him to contact her mother for her 17th birthday. He warns her not to get her hopes up.

  • While he’s gone, a snowstorm delays him, and her mother suddenly shows up at the door. The girl is excited and spends time with her over the next few days. She even wants to leave with her mom but realizes it won’t happen.

When the father finally contacts her, she tells him her mom has been visiting — and he freaks out. He rushes home and tells her the mother actually died years ago, having tried to kill herself and her daughter by driving into a lake (the father saved the daughter).

  • The daughter rebels, goes to a party with a boy she likes, drinks, kisses him, and gets in a fight with other girls.

  • Later, she sees her mother again and realizes she really is a ghost — and the mother claims it wasn’t a murder-suicide, but that the father killed her and covered it up.

  • At the end, there’s a scene by the lake where the father dies (I think after seeing the mother’s ghost).

  • The final scene is set years later, showing the daughter and the boy driving back to visit the town.

  • It’s not Leave No Trace, Lake Mungo, The Lodge, or Caddo Lake

  • It’s not a super spooky horror — more of a quiet, emotional ghost story / family drama. The mother’s ghost just looked like a normal woman.
