It’s killing me that I can’t seem to remember anything else about this film. It was definitely 2000+ but I’m not sure how old from now. Please, I appreciate the help.
Premise of the movie: There’s something outside that, whenever someone looks at it, they turn violent (murderous or suicidal or both).
A scene: a survivor bangs on the door of the house our main characters (crew) are in and begs to be let in. They let him in and he seems normal enough, not violent but nervous. They later find that he has a bag of drawings and sketches that are very disturbing, one is black swarming lines. He sneaks upstairs where a mother is sleeping with her baby, and he steals the baby to the window to show the baby the “beauty” outside. He tries to open the windows and shutters so that everyone can see its beauty (the thing that turns people crazy). The mother wakes up and begs him to let the baby go. The crew comes upstairs and tries to fight him to retrieve the baby without looking outside.
Another scene: there are murderous people that embrace the violence and band together. A group of them ride in a car together to terrorize others and “turn” them as well.
