Hi everyone,
I’m trying to remember a science fiction movie I watched as a kid, likely from the late 80s or early 90s. It felt like a lower-budget production with perhaps a less famous cast.
Here are the key plot points and details I recall:
- The story takes place on a large spaceship that gets lost or stranded.
- The crew gradually starts to suffer from dwindling supplies, then oxygen depletion.
- There’s a specific, tense scene where they have to choose between keeping the reserve oxygen running or the climate control/AC.
- A very distinctive character was the ship’s technician/engineer. He was a short man, and his hand was amputated at the wrist, replaced by a bionic attachment onto which he could connect various tools (like drills) for repairs. This detail is very clear in my memory.
- They discover that one of the crew members, a polite and seemingly calm man, is actually a killer who’s murdering them one by one.
- They manage to forcefully eject the killer into space.
- Eventually, a rescue ship arrives and finds the survivors.
I’ve already ruled out Pandorum, Supernova, Alien series, Event Horizon, and Starship Troopers 2.
Any help identifying this film would be greatly appreciated! My memory is a bit hazy on the title, but these specific details are strong.
Thanks in advance!
