Man is a college teacher and has affair with student. Wife finds out and kicks him out of house and refuses to talk to him. He realizes he made a terrible mistake and goes to father-in-law (FIL) for advice. Man proclaims how much he loves his wife and regrets what he did. FIL tells him what he feels is meaningless. FIL tells him “Loving someone is about how you treat them, not how you feel”. Man asks FIL what he should do. FIL says “go sit outside her house and don’t leave no matter what happens. He does and sits there for several days. It starts raining. He is drenched and wife finally lets him in and gives him a blanket.
