I am looking for a movie for somebody else. I do not have much info, here it goes:
A man finds/stumbles upon a place where there are a lot of monitors showing the city/town. Not long after that the people start behaving strangely. There is some sort of substance/drug that is put into everything, for example into food (hamburger maybe?). There is a place under the city/town where they are experimenting on people.
My guess is that it might be a conspiracy thriller(?) movie, or even maybe a sci-fi(?) movie.
That is all the info I have. Not much, but any help would be appreciated.

You aren't thinking about Equilibrium (2002), right? Because in that movie, people are forced to take a substance so that they don't feel any emotion.

There is a movie that I am trying to remember too that there is a conspiracy going maybe by aliens or such and they control people with outdoors with ads/propaganda videos that control the mind of people. There is some known actors and the the girl might be Anne Hathaway or some girl on that line. It has a THEY LIVE vibe and I am almost sure is from the 2000's or 2010's... I thinktheir main transport is bus and the main actress sees some bug on the outdoors while passing by them by bus (I may be wrong). And so she sees a glimpse of who they really are behind the outdoors video ads.

Do you happen to know when they saw the movie (time period) was it English movie? There is a lot of movies that could technically fit some of this subject but maybe if we could get the timeline of when they saw it we could eliminate some. Thanks.
