The film or miniseries is about a guy trapped in a town. Something is pushing him to stay there and write a book. He gets weird phone calls and when he tries to leave the road is destroyed by a space laser. The mayor is super friendly and is building a massive town centre with a bunch of money that has been mysteriously sent it him by the government. The man visits a company and realises that an AI is building a utopia in town. He gives up and settles in town to write a book. It ends with him warning another man who just arrived to get out of town. Anyone know what it is called?
