Movie to Identify, Please

There was a movie from maybe 30 years ago or so, and there was a scene in it, I believe, that may have occurred in the south, but a goblet or glass of wine (I think during a church service) was offered to an older white man, who refused to drink from it because a black woman had just drunk from it. I believe he made reference to “not wanting to drink after a syphilitic woman” or something like that.

Not sure, but maybe he spit in the glass as well

Seems like there was a derogatory / negative comment then made by another woman who was standing there like, “Obviously you have experience with such things,” implying he had first hand knowledge about syphilis.

I was trying to identify this movie if someone can help me with it.

Thanks, Mike Reisman

Maybe?:

I think it is an older show than this, and the guy who said that and refused to drink was older, like from the old south from years before. I wish I could remember more.

Hurry Sundown (1967).

GREAT!!! - Absolutely correct. THANK YOU SO VERY MUCH. Funny, I thought it was Burgess Meredith and Jane Fonda, but I didn't trust my memory. Most appreciated. mike
