Okay, so I am trying to remember the name of a movie from the 90s. It’s a romance/romcom. It is:
set in small town
you think you are watching the main movie, but it turns out that you are watching a movie made by a guy in the town.
the whole town is watching the movie
The movie is about the guy trying to get the girl back
The guy plays the main role in the movie, but the “inside” movie has another girl playing his love interest
It is revealed that the “real” girl is watching the movie, and he’s trying to get her back.
Can you help me? This is driving me mad.
I should add that I can't remember the name of any of the actors in the movie, but of course I can see the male leads face as clear as day in my mind, but I can't make any connections to other things he's been in. FWIW, I'd describe him as a goofier, younger Andrew Garfield, but he's not Andrew Garfield.
