Old movie, maybe about the the british navy

Hi

As a child I had a VHS, with a movie, about a ship, I think it was the british navy, I remember, the captain had a special/funny voice. And that it was in colour. I hope anyone can help.

Greetings from Denmark.

Was it a cartoon or a live movie? Was it a comedy or a drama?

Comedy, and a live movie, maybe set to be under the Napoleon wars. But i am not sure.

I it about a big ship of the line, like the famous HMS Victory from Nelson? Or smaller ships like Francis Drakes ships in 16. Century?

Quite a big ship as I remember it. Maybe on its way to help in a war, possible the Napoleon wars.

In the HMS Victory style.

you are sure it is british? not some version of “mchale’s navy”?

I am not sure if its british or american or something third, maybe I am mistaken about the origin of the ship in the movie, but I am sure that it is a colour movie a comedy, and the captain speaking with a funny voice, and it was the original sound. And it is not McHales Nany. :-(

Not a comedy, and I don’t know Gruffudd’s original voice. ;o)

Hornblower

A series of TV movies.

unfortunately not, the movie is older, i may have seen it on VHS in 1992-93. I guess its must have been made, in the 60 or 70's
