Possibly 70s cult sci-fi low budget Christmas film - alien with two children in the snow

Shown around Christmas time in UK 1980/1981 when I was just 7/8 years old and I haven’t encountered it since. All these years I thought it was Santa Claus Conquers the Martians but having watched it today, unfortunately, it isn’t the case.

There are two scenes I remember:

What I think is probably an alien but in the form of a human man walks in the snow with two young children, a boy and a girl. Having never experienced snow before and believing that it must be the standard terrain for the whole planet, he declares to them, “Your Earth is too soft, I keep sinking into it.”

Another time, the three are in some sort of chamber and suddenly loads of different coloured sweets spew into it, possibly covering them. “Candy!” one of them shouts and they seem to enjoy it, maybe even eating them as the sweets continue to pour in.

Thank you for taking a look and your help is much appreciated.

you are sure this predated E.T. and not a ripoff of E.T.?
