Trying to remember the title of a 21st century movie where a teenage girl comes home from a hospital (school? institute? asylum? orphage?) and can’t go outside, sees her dead little brother out on the swingset, falls in love with a sheriff’s deputy who doesn’t exist. And no, it’s not The Uninvited. I believe it was written/produced/directed/something by a female formerly-child actress.

– VHS_LivesI don't remember why she didn't go outside. I think at one point she almost did, to follow the little brother she thought she saw. My memory is a lot better now than it was back then!
