Probably not the movie you are looking for, but I throw it out, because there is a somewhat similar scene in it:
“Battle of the Bulge” (1965)
In the movie German paratroopers who speak excellent English and dressed as American soldiers are dropped behind enemy lines to confuse the Allies. There is a scene in the movie where a small group of these German saboteurs/commandos disguised as Americans sabotages the road/town signs, pointing them to the wrong direction, and this way they intentionally send an American unit the wrong way.
