remember watching a sci fi thriller at the cinemas in the 2010s

I’m pretty sure they’re in a space station or something trying to stop an explosion

I think they’ve been held hostage because in one scene late in the movie the main character speaks about a story about his childhood to his nephew who is watching on a live feed from the presidents office but it’s actually a hidden code so that he may decipher it and save them

At the end he sacrifices himself in the explosion to save the others
