Trying to find what film or tv series this is from

This seems like it came from a VHS tape. Any indicators as to when it was recorded? A date written on the label perhaps? And she mentions "Johnny". Do you have more scenes where you could find out more of the characters names? If so, then it could be used in an advanced search on IMDb to narrow down the results. The film looks to be late 90's or early 2000's from looking at it, but that is just a guess. The YouTube channel Scottish TV Gold's description is "This channel will mainly feature historic clips from Scottish Television and BBC Scotland." So it is most likely a series and not a film.

I know nothing else unfortunately. Scottish TV Gold uploaded it for me as they had edited it from another clip (it came on at the start of a weather forecast). All they said they knew for certain was that it was pre 1994.

Ohh, this is a hard one. I think she says like “there is no lake of dreams” and I can’t find any quote with lake of dreams.

I first thought he looks like Jonny Lee Miller (Elementary) but wrong ear shape.
The haircut looks like that from Matthew Fox in Lost, but chin doesn’t. And he was called Jack.

Ben Browder in Farscape (1999) also had a similar haircut, and a similar ear shape AND his name was John, but I can’t find any images of him unshaved. And that doesn’t look like Claudia Black.

No sadly not. It came from a clip Scottish TV Gold Uploaded from Christmas Eve 1994 and this was already on the tape. They reckon this was from a broadcast no more than two years before 1994 (but probably 1994) and guessed BBC2 or Channel 4 but couldn't rule BBC1 or STV out.

I wondered if the actress was Irish? Or at least putting on an Irish accent.
