So I watched this film many years ago & fell in love with it. Unfortunately I can’t think of the name of the film, the actors & no luck on Google.

The film involved a man & a woman that were lovers. They both went to a beach where they both were separated ,due to some crazy or violent situation . The man was in an accident or involved in violence, which scarred & disformed the side of his face. Years went by & he finally seen his lover again….but something in the plot kept them at a distance for some time, before the man revealed his identity . Love letters may have been a part of the film as well.

Does anyone know what the title of this film could be?
