Movie set in WWII. B/W made circa 1946-1962. End of movie - a soldier, I think American, is trapped in a bombed out building basement with a wounded buddy and several German soldiers. He has them at bay as he has a tommy gun. The German soldiers are waiting for him to fall asleep after so many hours watching them so they can grab the gun. Voices are heard outside, soldiers have come to dig them out but all that can be made out is that they are speaking German. Time passes, the American soldier fights the urge to sleep, Germans keeping careful watch and just as it seems he will lose the fight to stay awake the outside soldiers break through and a voice is heard in English something like “We found you!” and the Germans again have to back off. The German voices digging them out had been German prisoners.
