Zombie movie that a group of teenagers are trying to get somewhere

A football player(or somone with football pads) was dying and he gave a girl some notebook and they were at a school when he died. I believe there was a chase scene with zombies following them but can’t exactly remember. Finally I believe this movie was around 2012-2014 ish?
